Even if you already have a circuit in your building, there may be no spare fibre cables to use for your new circuit. This may mean additional work required to get spare fibre cables to your site. This could mean cabling from the closest connection point on the network to your site or sometimes if that connection point is at capacity cabling from further away on the network to your site.
An engineer may discover an issue that wasn't found as part of your site survey. The survey is a physical survey of your site, but the network is checked based on records held and issues like blockages, collapsed ducts etc become apparent during the external works being carried out.

Traffic Management
Depending on the work that needs to be carried out, Traffic Management may need to be booked. Traffic Management is booked in advance as there can be existing work being done in the area and the local authority will only allow a certain number of road works to be undertaken in a certain area during a period of time. Also, some local authorities can give permits to allow these works in 2-3 months’ time. Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do to hurry this process along, as it's in the hands of the local council. But we'll keep you informed via regular updates.
Wayleave and Permission to Dig/Work Documents
If you do not own the property at the installation site or land where the fibre is being provided, landlord consent is required. This is provided through a Wayleave document. Without it, the supplier is unable to carry out the relevant work.
Obtaining a Wayleave document will be arranged between the supplier and the property's landlord.
If a Wayleave document is not required, a Permission to dig/work (PTD/W) document needs to be signed by a private landowner.
Excess Construction Charges
Excess Construction Charges (ECCs) will be charged for provision of physical work. They are identified after the site survey and presented to us in the planning results.
Driver Circuits
When another circuit is the first one to be provisioned within the same local area, any core dependencies will be carried out on the driver circuit along with any ECCs. Our circuit is reliant on ECC acceptance, and all external work being completed before your order can progress. If the existing lead-in at the your site is blocked or at full capacity, a new customer lead-in will be required.
Test Rods and Tubes
A test rod and tube are used to check for blockages in underground ducts where fibre is thread. We use this to ensure there is a clear path for connection to your installation site.
